Using the same typeface to create these Frank O’Hara poetry books, I intended each cover image to be literal representations of O’Hara’s titles since his poetry is not often literal in meaning.
Chris Kraus’ I Love Dick merges fiction, memoir, and epistolary novel styles to explore Kraus’ psychosexual obsession with a man named Dick. Aliens & Anorexia is also fictitious and analyzes Kraus’ failed independent film Gravity & Grace. These redesigns are intended to evoke the page turning that Kraus’ work has been for me and all other feminists. Kraus’ interdisciplinary style of writing in both I Love Dick and Aliens & Anorexia has largely inspired my own interdisciplinary work within the visual arts.
One of my favorite novels in middle school was the The City of Ember by Jeanne DuPrau. This redesign is a mock cover and reimagining of DuPrau’s novel as The City of Solar. Title is hand lettering.
